I have lived in Ilminster since 2003 and am a member of the Town Council. I work in the area as a locum pharmacist.

Ilminster is a growing town and I am standing for election to the County Council because I want to ensure that growth is managed and especially that infrastructure is developed to cope with the increased number of residents. The County must ensure that flood defenses are effective and that sewerage services are adequate.
I am also worried about the impact of the reduction in funding, following the phasing out of the rate support grant and change to the generation of monies from business rates. The Council has not demonstrated that it can manage an adequate provision of services with the cuts that it has had to deal with so far. As a Councillor I will argue to ensure that services are delivered cost-effectively and that the funds available to the Council are managed well.
