We have no representation in Yeovil Central. Our candidate for the County Council elections is Terry Lavin
Yeovil Central – Terry Lavin
My family have lived in Yeovil Central since 1983; my children went to the Milford schools and then to Bucklers Mead. I worked at Westlands until my retirement in 2013, having been a shop steward and senior Union negotiator for much of that time. I now enjoy playing golf, helping with my granddaughter, and supporting Yeovil Town Football Club having joined the Glovers Trust.
I am standing for the County Council because I have always been a Socialist and now have time to represent the ward as I believe it should be, to the tangible benefit of the residents. As a County Councillor I want to ensure that the education strategy ensures that the expansion of new schools in other parts of the town do not have a detrimental effect on the great schools we have in Yeovil Central. I am especially concerned that at a time of teacher shortages there is a plan to ensure that all schools are properly resourced.
I am also concerned about the impact that a series of road works has had on the businesses in the town and the delays and frustrations they have brought to residents. I want to be able to ensure that there is a coherent strategy for dealing with traffic in Yeovil as the town expands, taking into account the views of residents, and that the implementation is coordinated and communicated.
